Third Annual What Works Conference: "Building Capacity for a Systems Approach to Improving Educator Quality"
The 2008 What Works ConferenceBuilding Capacity for a Systems Approach to Improving Educator Qualityfocused on the alignment of teacher quality and school leadership policies across the educator career continuum. Conference themes emphasized how coordination of policies relating to teacher preparation and recruitment, induction and professional development, compensation and working conditions, performance management, and school leadership allow states to leverage resources effectively and to generate policies and practices that are likely to raise student achievement by improving educator quality.
Second Annual What Works Conference
The 2007 conference focused on connections between teacher quality, leadership quality, and student outcomes with an emphasis on teaching and leading in at-risk schools and for students with special needs. The interrelationship between teacher quality and leadership provides a strong foundation for improving student achievement, especially when effective leadership is the linchpin of an effective education systema system of aligned, coordinated, adaptive, and sustainable policies that work for all learners.
